Date: Early November 2017

Location: Training on the Wannsee, Berlin (VSAW – Verein Seglerhaus am Wannsee)

Occasion: Final race weekend of the 2017 German Sailing Bundesliga season

In early November 2017, I joined BMW Yachtsport to document an intense and decisive moment in German high-performance sailing: the final showdown of the 1st Sailing Bundesliga.

As league leaders and previous winners of the Sailing Champions League, the team from Deutscher Touring Yacht-Club (DTYC) was preparing to secure the national championship. The final training sessions took place on the Berlin Wannsee, hosted by the historic VSAW club, with strategic coaching by renowned sailors Markus Wieser and Marc Pickel.

My task was to visually activate BMW’s sponsorship through authentic, emotionally charged imagery. The focus: capturing the tactical precision on the water, the physical teamwork on board, and the mental preparation on land – all framed by the late autumn light and the iconic backdrop of Berlin.

Subtle but consistent integration of BMW branding ensured the visual narrative remained aligned with the brand’s premium character. The final photo series was used across BMW Yachtsport’s digital channels, internal marketing communications, and media coverage of the season finale.

This project brought together sport, brand, and storytelling in a powerful visual fusion – showcasing the elegance, pressure, and energy of competitive sailing at its highest level.
