Photographer ever since
It all began in the early 2000s at FREE Magazine, the first publication by Terra Oceanis (now Ocean.Global). As Senior Staff Photographer, I was part of a team that redefined German action sports journalism – with fresh perspectives, honest imagery, and a focus on the people behind the sport. That time shaped my style: documentary, direct, and unfiltered.
Whether at the Tour de France, in international sports PR, or in sponsorship activation – my photos tell stories that stick. Athletes, such as those from the German Sailing Team, value my action shots and portraits because they’re not staged, but drawn from real life.
Outdoor and travel magazines regularly publish my features – often in a mockumentary style, somewhere between observation and narrative commentary.
Science and technology are also part of my portfolio: I was commissioned by the Alfred Wegener Institute to document the construction of Germany’s Neumayer Station in Antarctica, and by SolarWorld to accompany students competing in a solar car race across Australia.
Visual storytelling for social impact
A meaningful part of my work is dedicated to NGOs and social causes.
For Anstoß e.V., Germany’s national network for social integration through sport, I’ve documented projects that empower people on the margins of society through street football. As part of that, I’ve also produced images for the Homeless World Cup, an international football initiative for people affected by homelessness.
With Haydom Friends e.V., I support projects aimed at improving medical care for children with spina bifida and hydrocephalus in Tanzania. My photo reportages help raise awareness and funding for initiatives like the “House of Hope” – a center dedicated to ongoing care and community support for affected families.
These assignments demand more than just photography – they call for empathy, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to document challenging realities with respect and care.
What ties all these projects together? My style. Reportage photography that’s honest, raw, and close to life. I value good preparation and strong teamwork – but I don’t need overly controlled sets, elaborate lighting, or hours in the makeup chair. I believe in natural light, real moments, and the truth of the image.
